Back from Queens in two hours

Hello everyone. I’m sorry I did not do a column last week. I was up in Quincy Mass. with my sister to visit her daughter, her husband and my new great-nephew, Fintan. By the end of the trip, I was calling him Fin-Man. He is so stinking cute. I drove to Queens to meet up with my sister so we could drive together; we did the same on the way back. If I had left from Cochecton, it would have taken me five hours; so, it took me two and a half to get to Queens and four to Quincy. I cannot tell a lie: I was shocked driving back up from Queens on Sunday afternoon; I left my sister’s at six o’clock and was in my driveway at eight. There was no traffic and I found a great radio station.

There is a lot going on with the Cochecton Ambulance Corps on Saturday, July 24 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Cochecton Ambulance Park (adjacent to the town hall) at 74 Smales Rd.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors will be a day filled with education and fun with the dedicated first responders who serve our community. There will be an ambulance tour, blood pressure checks and many demonstrations you can watch. On Saturday, August 28, there will be a blood drive at the Cochecton Town Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, email www.cochectonambulanceems@gmail.com. Sign up online at www.redcrossblood.org.

There is lots of fun stuff happening with the Cochecton Youth Commission (CYC). Please follow them on Facebook at New Cochecton Youth Commission. If you are new to the Town of Cochecton, please send them a message and register your children. All CYC events are free to Cochecton children.

I sold 101 tickets for the Lake Huntington Lake Association. The winners will be pulled this weekend at the association’s annual meeting. I hope someone who bought tickets from me wins.

Be happy that the world is getting somewhat back to normal! Email me at
leeniebeans@citlink.net or call me at 845/252-3568 if you have any news or want to get the word out about an event in the town of Cochecton.

Keep smiling and have a great week.

Lake Huntington News, Queens, Eileen
