LIVINGSTON MANOR — If you’re going to win a football game, it might as well be in front of the hometown crowd during homecoming.
And that’s exactly what happened on Saturday, September 22, as the home team — combined eight-man football squad of Roscoe/Livingston Manor/Downsville (2-1), taking to the field under the banner of the Blue Devils, — defeated the Dragons of Dover 28-8.
The Blue Devils scored the opening TD of the intensely fought battle at 6:06 in the second frame as Erick “B” Hill scooted around the left on a 30-yard run, followed up by a two-point conversion run by QB Nikolas Breihof to put Roscoe up 8-0.
A couple of plays later, Roscoe’s Connor Gorr came up with a blocked Dover punt, which was converted into 6 points at 4:17 by Hill on a 5-yard run. The 2-point conversion attempt came up short.
The Blue Devils were in the lead 14-0.
With 12-seconds left on the first half clock, Hill connected to Ty Engle with a 13-yard pass and then punched it across the line on a 2-point conversion run to give the home team a 22-0 lead.
