The Delaware Highlands Conservancy hosted an educational walk last weekend focused on native plants at the Milford Experimental Forest, a 1,191-acre property in Milford, PA. Amanda Subjin of the Conservancy and Garrett
Beers of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources identified plants and trees along the trail that passed through various forest types. I had the pleasure of offering photography tips to camera-wielding participants for possible submission to the Conservancy’s photo contest, “Confluence: Land, Water and Wildlife,” targeting four categories: landscape, wildlife, macro and water.
Folks from Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey captured photos fitting each category as we focused our lenses and attuned our senses to the sights and sounds of birds and insects, while learning about many species of plants, trees, mosses and fungi. Visit www.delawarehighlands.org/photo-contest for details about the contest, then grab your camera and capture that winning photo.
