Hello my readers and friends, what’s new? Hope you are all enjoying this summer the best you can. For me, it’s the same old same old: staying home and being safe. I do go into the office on Mondays and Thursdays, and I also get my own food shopping done. I have been saving quite a bit of money; you do not realize how much you spend in gas when you are running all over the place and how much you spend going out to dinner. Still, this year cannot end fast enough.

Supervisor Gary Maas and the town board—Dr Paul Salzberg, Ed Grund, Sean Nearing and Michael Walters—all worked very hard on Cochecton clean up weekend. I was told that it was a record-breaking clean up, a very successful two days. They collected everyone’s unwanted and useless junk. They filled nine dumpsters and more than 200 tires were received. There was also one dumpster filled with metal. Thank you Gary and the town board for working so hard to keep Cochecton clean. Litter pluck may be over, but if you see anything on the side of the road, pick it up. I remember as a kid throwing a gum wrapper out the car window and my dad stopped the car, made me go pick it up and called me a litter bug. He said, “If we all threw our gum wrappers out of the window, it would look a mess, so put it in your pocket and throw it out when you get home.”

Fosterdale Café would like to let everyone know that they will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The café will be open from 1 to 7:30 p.m. for food and 1 to 8 p.m. for ice cream.

If you are spending time at the lake, please take home any garbage that you might have. Local people are trying to keep the surrounding area of the lake clean. The rule of thumb is if you bring it, you take it. The lake is there for all of us to enjoy.

Keep smiling and have a great week. You can email me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news. My new dead line is Friday. You can read more of me in communtiy living.
