Enhancing independent living

MONTICELLO, NY — New Hope is a not-for-profit human services organization that provides support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). It is partnering with local builder Saumik (Sonny) Patel to fuel the best life possible for those with I/DD, aiming toward creating opportunities for meaningful community involvement and integration.

After months of permits, talks and preparation, ground was broken on June 27 on the Monticello property. The property will soon transform into an apartment complex made up of units that will be fully-integrated and accessible for people with I/DD, while also being an attractive rental community for others.

The complex will consist of three, three-story buildings that house a total of 64 one- and two-bedroom apartments; each will be ADA compliant and feature smart-technology compatibility.

The project is expected to be completed in 2020.
