PORT JERVIS, NY — The Hub at Port Jervis Public Library will hold a Friends of the Garden Program, teaching you how to make an evergreen kissing ball on Tuesday, November 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The evergreen kissing ball is a charming, romantic tradition harking back to 18th-century England. As the custom goes, whenever a young lady standing beneath the ball received a kiss, she removed a berry until all the berries (and kisses) were gone. It’s a festive touch for suspending in a doorway or from a chandelier. The cost is $10. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Garden.
Pre-registration is required in person at the library, by calling 845/856-7313 ext. 5, or email the-hub@portjervis library.org.
