Press release:  District Attorney Jim Farrell announced  that Jason Perulli, 42, of Fallsburg, was convicted following a jury trial in Sullivan County Court of several felonies.

The jury convicted Perulli for his possession of more than eight ounces of cocaine and more than one-half ounce of heroin, packaged in more than 1,080 individual packets, on October 25, 2018, inside a residence at 80 Zimmerman Road in the Town of Fallsburg, and that the possession was with intent to sell dangerous drugs.

The drugs had a combined street value in excess of $30,000.00.  Police also found U.S. Currency totaling $7,980.00 in the home.  Perulli was further convicted of possessing scales under circumstances evidencing his intent to use them for drug distribution, and driving while his license was suspended or revoked by the Department of Motor Vehicles. By their verdict, the jury rejected Perulli’s argument that it was his wife, who is now deceased, and not him, who possessed the drugs; at the time of his arrest.  While his wife was still alive, Perulli made a full confession to police, admitting his possession of the narcotics.  Chief Assistant District Attorney Meagan Galligan handled the trial and prosecution of this case.

Farrell said, “The possession of this large quantity of narcotics posed a very real threat to the safety of the Sullivan County community and they were destined for distribution on our streets; the jury saw through this defendant’s hollow argument and recognized the hard work of the Town of Fallsburg Police, including Detectives Pavese and Hartman, and the trial presentation by Chief ADA Galligan. This arrest and the seizure of such a large cache of dangerous narcotics were the result of good and vigilant police work and the jury’s verdict reflects that. My office will continue to work collaboratively with our law enforcement partners to detect, investigate and prosecute those who deal in dangerous narcotics. I am grateful for the service and attention of these jurors, and the seriousness which with they approached their role.”

At sentencing, scheduled for December 2, 2019, Perulli faces up to 30 years in state prison. He has previously been convicted of several felony offenses, including felony drug possession in 2010 for which he was sentenced to 8 ½ years of incarceration and was on parole at the time of the offenses here.  He is remanded to the Sullivan County Jail pending sentencing.
