It’s February, and love is in the air, especially around Valentine’s Day February 14. In astrology, Venus represents love and relating, and Mars action and energy, and their relationship to each other in the skies symbolizes romance. For this month, I’ll look where these planets fall according to Sun or Ascendant signs, and the aspects they form on Valentine’s Day to see what might be in store for you romantically.

Venus changes signs to Aquarius right at the start of the month and stays there for most of February until February 26, when it changes to Pisces, and Mars continues in Taurus for the whole month. Venus in Aquarius shows an attitude toward love and romance that’s unconventional and open-minded. Romantic relationships often start as friendships and often stay friendly even if the relationship ends. There could be commitment issues, and it might take a long time to settle down. On-off romances are not uncommon.

Mars in Taurus uses energy at a steady pace. It might take a long time to get going, but once it does, there’s no stopping. Mars in Taurus can become a raging bull if aroused to anger, and jealousy and possessiveness can happen. Security and settled relationships are high on their list of requirements in relationships.

The two planets are building up to a square aspect for most of the month including Valentine’s Day. On the day, Venus is also conjunct Jupiter and Mercury, making this a special day for lovers filled with luck and loving messages, while Mars is sextile idealistic Neptune and trine powerhouse Pluto, promising sweet words, and enduring love. February 11 New Moon at 23 degrees Aquarius just before Valentine’s Day strengthens the independent-minded Aquarian influence at least until February 27 Full Moon at 9 degrees Pisces when matters of the heart relevant around Valentine’s reach culmination of some kind. Below is a more detailed look at each sign.

ARIES  Mars 21 – April 20

On Valentine’s Day, your ruling planet Mars is in your 2nd house in Taurus, square Venus/Mercury/Jupiter together in Aquarius in your 11th,  house where it’s sextile Neptune and Moon and trine Pluto. These combinations can give rise to high hopes for love, but they might not be long lasting because of the Aquarian changeability and, sometimes, detachment. Your partner might be playing with your emotions, not interested in the long term, but open to free-flowing dating. This might not be what you’re after as Taurus Mars wants to commit and possess, but there can be intense encounters. Your natal Aries Sun is usually ready to move on quickly to new possibilities. New Moon just before Valentine’s in your 11th house brings friends and networks to your life that take on a prominent role for the rest of the month. Full Moon in Virgo February 27 in your 5th house might bring your love interest back.

TAURUS April 21 – May 20

On Valentine’s Day, your ruling planet Venus is in Aquarius close together with Jupiter and Mercury in your 10th house, and Mars is rising in your chart in your own sign, Taurus, sextile Neptune and trine Pluto. They’re in a square aspect, meaning there could be conflict as you assert your Taurus dominance that you feel strongly with Mars on the Ascendant, and there can also be issues over career, status, or direction in life. Someone in a powerful or high-status position might show romantic interest in you, but it could be fleeting and not have the long-lasting ending that Taurus usually wants. New Moon February 11 a few days before strengthens the possibility of this. Full Moon in Virgo February 27 falls across your 11th and 5th houses when the romance matters can be resolved.

GEMINI May 21 – June 20

Venus is in the independent Aquarius in your 9th house, joined by Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury and Sun in the same sign, while Mars is in your secretive and reclusive 12th house in Taurus sextile Neptune and trine Pluto. They’re in a square or causing friction in your love life. While you’re optimistic and reaching high for your expectations of love, it might be a good idea to run a reality check since your ability to dream and believe in what you want to believe is strongly activated by the 9th and 12th houses. Is it possible that your romantic interest is not what they seem? With the 12th house, deception could be a possibility, or this can mean a secret, forbidden affair starts or an existing one comes to light. Geminis can write compelling love notes and the New Moon in Aquarius a few days before Valentine’s shows it’s time to put more energy into more idealistic love. Planning or actually traveling long distances is a good idea, if possible, but you can also get away in your mind through meditation and the like. Full Moon in Virgo February 27 in your 4th house puts emphasis on home and getting things organized.

CANCER June 21 – July 20

On Valentine’s Day, February 14 your 8th house of intimacy and partnerships is strongly activated, with Venus, Jupiter and Mercury, Sun and Saturn all there. This can mean renewing close bonds with your partner or spouse, however, a square or tension aspect from Mars in Taurus in your 11th house might ignite some confusion over who’s a friend and who’s a lover. Mars makes a calming aspect to Pluto in 7th in Capricorn, diffusing the situation in stable permanent relationships or marriage, although there is a possibility of others being involved with the New Moon also in 8th house in Aquarius a few days before, February 11. Around the Full Moon on February 27 in Virgo in your 3rd house, it’s likely things will be sorted by good communication, and what went on is soon past and forgotten, as often happens with strong Aquarius influence.

LEO        July 21 – August 20

With your ruler Sun magnified in the 7th house of partnerships and marriage on Valentine’s Day because it’s joined by Venus, Jupiter, Mercury and Saturn there too, this is a great time for a romance with your spouse or partner. Even the friction-causing square from Mars in Taurus should not cause too much trouble, and since it’s from 10th house, it’s likely some colleagues might want you out with them to party, but without much success on this lover’s day. You’re likely inspired to pen beautiful love poems with Mercury conjunct Venus, and with the Aquarius influence, there could be something unexpected and unusual planned for the day.  New Moon in the same house February 11, a few days before Valentine’s shows new beginnings in relationships, and Full Moon February 27 in Virgo in your 2nd house can bring both money and strengthened love to your partnership, infused with idealism and romance.

VIRGO   August 21 – September 20

If possible at all, try to get away with your loved one on Valentine’s Day February 14, because there could be overwhelming pressure or need to be at work on this lovers’ day, with 5 planets in your 6th house of work, and a square strong Mars in Taurus in your 9th house. Virgos often overwork, or put work before anything else, but it’s possible your romantic partner won’t appreciate it during the day. Mars in 9th shows getting away together can be a good solution, especially since it’s trine Pluto in the romantic 5th house and sextile Neptune in 7th, close personal relationship house. There’s a need to dream large to make your romantic dreams a possibility. New Moon February 11 just a few days before Valentine’s activates your work area, but try to ignore it for the time being, or Full Moon February 27 in Virgo might bring what you wanted to a culmination that’s not completely what you wanted.

LIBRA September 20 – October 22

Your ruler Venus is together with Jupiter and Mercury in your 5th house, your romance sector on Valentine’s Day, so it looks like you’re going to be busy with love notes and dating, and Mars square from your 8th house of passion square Venus can only add to the mix. Sun and Saturn are also in the same house, all in Aquarius, so it’s possible the romance is fleeting, or on and off. Libras want to feel loved, and how this suits you depends on your natal chart. As a Libra, you can also change your mind a lot, and the New Moon February 11 just before Valentine’s put emphasis on your personal interests and issues more than partnerships for the rest of the month, or at least until Full Moon February 27 in Virgo in your 12th house when anything hidden might come to light.

SCORPIO October 23 – November 20

Your ruler Mars is in your partnership and marriage house in Taurus on Valentine’s Day, bringing energy but also the possibility of arguments with your loved one, especially since Venus in Aquarius in your 4th house of home squares it. But Venus is also together conjunct Jupiter and Mercury, and Sun and stabilizing Saturn are also in the same house, so things should work out with loving words and love notes on this lover’s day. New Moon in Aquarius February 11 lights up your home and family surroundings as well, so Valentine’s is more family-oriented than for most. But Neptune is in your 5th house in Pisces and square Mars in 7th, so there could be friction or inner conflict between established love and new dating possibilities. Full Moon February 27 in Virgo in your 11th house brings this to a culmination that’s likely to lead to friendly groups and networking.

SAGITTARIUS November 21 – December 20

With your ruler Jupiter together or conjunct Venus the planet of love and Mercury in your 3rd house of communication on Valentine’s Day, love letters seem to be the order of the day, and with Sagittarius flare and abundance, it’s likely you’ll send and receive many. The sign Aquarius is prominent because not only Venus, Jupiter and Mercury are in the sign, but also Sun and Saturn, adding to the excitement of more light-hearted romance that both Sagittarius and Aquarius are more comfortable with. Mars makes a square of friction aspect from the 6th house in Taurus, so urgent work matter might interfere with your Valentine’s Day plans. New Moon February 11 is also in your communications sector, so you might be busy full time in some business or commerce activity involving communications. Full Moon in Virgo February 27 brings your career versus home into sharp focus.

CAPRICORN December 21 – January 20

Your ruler Saturn sits tight with Venus, Jupiter and Mercury in Aquarius in your 2nd house of money and values on Valentine’s Day, bringing an element of seriousness to what you might have planned for the day. But Sun is also in the same house, and New Moon February 11 takes place also there, so you can sense a new beginning involving matters of love, and money and security that are important to you, as Capricorns yearn for stability. Full Moon February 27 in your 9th house in Virgo asks you to question what your ideals are, and to act accordingly.

AQUARIUS January 21 – February 20

With your first house of self-centered interests strongly activated on Valentine’s Day, you might not take so much notice of it since friendships usually are more important to you anyway. Venus, the planet of love is together or conjunct with Jupiter and Mercury though, possibly forcing the issue with would-be or sometimes friends that could be more, so it’s advisable to at least try to pen together love notes to those you care about. Your ruler Uranus in your 4th house of home and family shows something unusual might be in the cards regarding them, while your other ruler Saturn is actually closest in rising, making you more cautious than usual, but also perhaps bringing stability and commitment into the picture. New Moon February 11 in Aquarius also illuminates your personal issues, and Full Moon February 27 in Virgo in your 8th house brings this matter to a culmination, possibly about joint finances or resources.

PISCES February 21 – March 20

With Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Sun and Saturn in Aquarius on Valentine’s Day February 14, as well as New Moon February 11, all in your 12th house, you could be having some romantic action in secret, or simply plan a romantic getaway with your loved one. With 12th house, make sure you make your choices carefully and it’s best to be upfront with everyone involved, especially with Mars in Taurus squaring all Aquarius planets from in your 3rd house, and things might heat up to arguments over what’s going on. Neptune is rising in your chart in your sign Pisces, adding to what might be a confusing time for you. Full Moon February 27 in Virgo forces any remaining matters to light, bringing endings and new beginnings to our life. It doesn’t have to mean the end of relationships, but launching them to a new level.
