TOWN OF THOMPSON, NY — Monticello firefighters responded at 1:22 a.m. to a report of a structure fire at 100 East Broadway in the Town of Thompson. Sullivan County 911 received numerous calls reporting heavy fire coming from the building which could be seen from Route 17. Upon arrival Engine 22-14 found a 2 ½ story abandoned structure with fire blowing out the 3rd floor windows.

Monticello immediately requested an engine and manpower from Rock Hill to assist at the scene. Due to the distance to a fire hydrant, tankers were called from Rock Hill, Hurleyville, Kauneonga Lake and Wurtsboro. Town of Bethel FAST Team responded and Forestburgh Firefighters responded with an engine to fill tankers. Lumberland Firefighters were called to standby in Monticello’s Station.

Fire Investigators from Sullivan County Bureau of Fire were called to the scene to investigate. Mobilemedic EMS and Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported and all units were back in service at 6 a.m.
