HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Commissioners and the Veteran’s Affairs Office will celebrate the nation’s most enduring symbol, the American Flag, on Friday, June 14. The Flag Day event will again be held on the steps of the Wayne Courthouse in Honesdale and begins at 11 a.m.

The ceremony, marking the adoption of the Stars and Stripes in 1777, includes the singing of the National Anthem, a color guard, Pledge of Allegiance and remarks from Director of Veterans Affairs Jeffrey Legg as well as county commissioners.

The event will be followed by a picture of the group with flags on the steps of the courthouse. Celebrants at the 2018 ceremony—said to have been the largest turnout to date—are pictured above. The commissioners encourage all employees and the entire community to join them in this celebration.
