Yard chores are finishing up and we’re beginning to hunker down. It’s the perfect time to fall in love with Honesdale.

At The Cooperage, the Main Street Farmers Market starts back up on Saturday, November 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This indoor market is complete with local farmers, the market cafe and so much more. Our family enjoys selecting locally grown carrots, potatoes and winter squash for our cold-season recipes. It’s a win-win. My kids love their buttered, mashed potatoes, and I love knowing who grew our food.

Along with the market comes Romping Radishes, a healthy-living class for kids. This program runs during the market from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

Ever notice how your child listens to a stranger better than you? Hype has a message for children that you’ll want your K-12 kids to hear. Philadelphia-based Rapping About Prevention and Special EFX will be at The Cooperage after school on Wednesday, November 6 at 3:45 p.m. They deliver a high-energy dance and musical performance using facts, humor, personal experience, teamwork exercises and audience participation, emphasizing good nutrition, drinking water and keeping active!

Reconnect with nature and start your own agriculture business! The Stroubridge Project is hosting Funding and Raising Capital for Agriculture and Food Businesses on Thursday, November 7 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Penn State Cooperative Extension is also holding a workshop called Food for Profit on Friday, November 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3p.m. It’s great information for new businesses, or existing ones that want to increase their profitability.

November’s Second Saturday in Honesdale is full of great stories! The eighth annual Free Book Swap is accepting donations on Thursday and Friday, November 7 and 8, before opening the Wayne County Park Street Complex doors for the main event on Saturday, November 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are no requirements or limitations to this swap, so bring a smile and take out as many as you can count! What I love about this event is that every book is given a chance to be taken by someone in the local region before being donated to an organization that supports global-literacy efforts. Later on at 5:30 p.m., Authorfest at The Cooperage will consist of three inspiring programs. Hear from presenters about writing, publishing and promoting your own story in this road-to-publishing series.

The Maple City Jazz Fest is jam-packed with events the weekend of November 15 to 17. There are six musical performances at The Cooperage, Here & Now, and the Twisted Rail from Friday to Saturday.
The Cooperage Project and our community partners hope you enjoy your time in town with friends, family or on your own. From the scenic Lackawaxen River to the majestic Irving Cliff, this town’s ambiance is warm and welcoming. We’re sure you’ll fall in love with Honesdale, too!
