Monticello Kiwanis awards scholarships

MONTICELLO, NY — Fourteen Monticello High School seniors and their parents/guardians were guests of honor at the Monticello Kiwanis Scholarship Dinner recently held at Tilly’s Diner. A total of $11,000  was awarded in scholarships to these students: Aiden Johnson, Emma Silverstein, Kyle Foss, Brooke Huebner, Jordyn Gorr, Kevin Sikorski, Molly Garcia, Adriana Bracy, Rachel Leventoff, Sofie Heimowitz, Emilie Mulhern, Nagely Cruz Leon, Madison Graham and Madison Carnell.

Improving the Frick Pond Loop Trail

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — On Sunday, June 30 at 1 p.m., the public is invited to help improve drainage on the scenic,

family friendly Frick Pond Loop Trail in Mongaup State Park. Local volunteers of the Willowemoc Trail Crew will supply tools and on-site training. Bring water and work gloves, and wear long pants and sturdy, waterproof footwear. Refreshements will be provided.

Rep. Matt Cartwright to visit Honesdale

HONESDALE, PA — On Monday, July 1, Rep. Matt Cartwright will hold a town hall meeting at The Cooperage Project from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be a brief presentation by Cartwright followed by a Q&A session.

This event is free and open to the public.

Buzz off, cancer

HONESDALE, PA — On Saturday, June 29 from 2 to 4 p.m., Mick’s Barber Shop will host Mick’s Buzz Off for Cancer event to raise money for the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute.

Participants will have their hair “buzzed” in exchange for donations from friends and family. Those who don’t want the haircut can sponsor a “buzzee” or make a general donation. The minimum donation to participate is $35 and includes a free T-shirt.

There will be raffle prizes and music by DJs Gary Moss and Master Alden.

The ‘Namaste Principle’

BEACH LAKE, PA — On Sunday, June 30 at 10:15 a.m., Doug Bill will speak about the Namaste Principle, “reflecting on how we can appreciate the inherent oneness we all have, exploring the paradigm shift from fear to love.” The one-hour service is sponsored by the Upper Delaware Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and will be held at the Berlin Township Community Center, 50 Milanville Rd.
