I had the pleasure of working at the WSUL “Heart a Thon” for the Catskill Regional Medical Center last Friday.  I was there to answer the phones, but I did much better on my cell phone and on Facebook. I got over $2,000 in donations. I would not have been able to do it without all my friends and family submitting their donations. Last year, they totaled over $63K in donations. This year, they were up to $72K, then, at the last minute, a donation came in for $50K and a total of $121K was raised overall. My friend, Jamie Meyer, who is an OR Nurse, came to visit me. Jamie was telling me that her dad, my buddy Bob Meyer, “The Judge”, was having a family party. He was turning 75, and he and his lovely wife, Kathy, would be celebrating their wedding anniversary of 50 years. Wow 50 years married to The Judge. Kathy, you are one lucky lady and I hope you have many more years of love and happiness. God bless, and a happy birthday to Bob.

If you do not have your taxes paid by February 28, you will get a pink letter in the mail informing you of your new amount, plus there will be a $2 fee added. I already have appointments for Thursday and will be in the office that day from 4-7 P.M. If you are mailing on the 28, make sure the post office has cancelled your stamp. On Wednesday, March 6, Kristin, the deputy tax collector, will be in from 5:30 -7 P.M. The rest of March, I will be in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday, from 4 to7 P.M., Saturday, Sunday and any other time by chance, but try to make an appointment. If the weather is bad, call first, as I may not be in. My phone number is 845/932-8360 ext. 17. You may obtain a duplicate tax bill/receipt or check the status of your payment at www.taxlookup.net.

The CYC is hosting two events at Hilltop Hobbies. The first event will be assembling a model Volkswagen Beetle on March 10, at 1 P.M. The next event will be assembling a Mustang on March 31, at 1 P.M. Both events will include a voucher for cookies and hot chocolate. Out of town members are welcome, but are asked to pay cash. As always, events are free to Cochecton youth. Registration will be on March 5 from 6:30-7:15 P.M. If you are unable to make registration and would like to make other arrangements to sign up, please contact the event coordinator, Michele, with any questions. She can be reached at 570/419-8801 prior to 6 P.M. on March 3.

Save the Date. The Lake Huntington Ladies Aid will be holding their Penny Social on April 6. Donations are needed, and should be lightly used or new. Please call Vicky Krauss at 845/932-8923.

Keep smiling and have a great week. You can e-mail me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news.  You can always check me out at riverreporter.com in Community living.
