I cannot believe it—August already! This summer went real fast, although it did feel like we had no spring, with all the rain. I have been keeping busy; there’s so much to do in Sullivan County.

The Cochecton Youth Commission (CYC) would like to thank Krissy Smith, owner of the Callicoon Theater, for a great night out seeing “The Lion King.” As always, the popcorn was so good, because they use real butter—yummy. On Sunday, I was working at Riverfest in Narrowsburg and was lucky enough to see Jim Kayton, the old owner of the theater.

The West Point football game will be on Saturday, October 5. The game costs $59 for out-of town-children and adults, but is, as always, free for Cochecton youth. I am so excited: I got an appointment with Alissa Smith on Saturday, August 3 at the Spirit Quest Expo. It takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Delaware Youth Center. I think I am going to try Reiki energy healing for my ear. Oh, I do not think I mentioned that I have shingles in my ear. Many years ago, I had shingles in my eye on the same side of my face, and yes, I got the shingle shot. You want to talk about pain? Oh boy, it hurts—they say stress causes it.
The fourth annual National Night Out block party will take place on Tuesday, August 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. Come along for free admission, food, music, games and fun at the Delaware Youth Center. If you would like more information, call 845/794-8080 ext. 176. This event is hosted by Sullivan West Community Task Force.

On Thursday, August 8, the Women’s Community Club of Cochecton is running a trip to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. For information, call Judy at 845/932-8210.

On Saturday, August 10, Narrowsburg Central School’s class of 1989 will have its 30th class reunion. This great event will be held at the Narrowsburg Inn. Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner. Any former school staff or friends of the class interested in coming are encouraged to contact John Grund at 570/470-4397.
