I am on my fifth day of eating my mother’s sausage stuffing. I ate it as I was making it on Wednesday, had it again on Thanksgiving, lunch on Friday, lunch on Saturday and in Thanksgiving soup on Sunday and will most likely have it again Monday. I also freeze some. Not only do I like eating it, I love making it and hanging out with my sister, talking and reminiscing about our parents. My dad used to do all the chopping, while my mom did the cooking. Great memories.

Here’s what’s coming up. The Ecumenical Food Pantry is hosting an open-your-heart toy drive. Donation boxes for new, unwrapped toys will be at Pete’s Market in Narrowsburg, the Narrowsburg Post Office, St. Francis Church, Our Lady of the Lake and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. There will also be a Christmas tree at Pete’s with ornament tags and children’s ages. If you would like to make a monetary donation, checks can be made out to “Ecumenical Food Pantry,” and in memo please write “toy drive.” The mailing address is P.O. Box 15, Narrowsburg, NY 12764. With questions, call Joanne at 845/252-3971.

The Sullivan West PTSO Food Drive was a success. The drive collected 2,287 items and distributed them to three local pantries. The third grade won the challenge to silly string assistant principal Kevin Carbone. I saw pictures; the kids got him good. On to our next event, the Harlem Wizards vs. SW Bulldog teachers and staff will take place at the Sullivan West Lake Huntington campus on January 6 at 3 p.m. Tickets are live and available until January 5. You can warm up with the Wizards if you purchase a jersey online or on game day. harlemwizards.thundertix.com/events/138911.

Don’t forget about the Woman’s Community Club of Cochecton. The club will hold its holiday luncheon on December 14 at 1:30 p.m. at The Lakeview Pizzeria. If you are interested in going, please give Pam DeMan a call at 845/252-7208. You’ll need to bring a $5 grab-bag gift to keep or to steal.

Save the date for the January 1 New Years chicken barbeque at the Lake Huntington Fire Co. from 2 to 5 p.m. To get your tickets in advance call 845/932-8514 Take out only.
