Man accused on bomb threat sentenced on separate charge

HONESDALE, PA — The man accused of phoning in a bomb threat to the Wayne County Courthouse on December 26, and causing the building to be closed briefly, has been sentenced in another case.

Jeremiah Guthrie, 50, of Honesdale has been sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional facility for a period of not less than 12 months nor more than 24 months for one count of criminal conspiracy-possession of a controlled substance. He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, continue with drug and alcohol treatment and comply with all recommendations for treatment, continue with mental health treatment and comply with all recommendations, and obtain full-time employment within 30 days of parole or provide documentation from a doctor precluding him from employment.

During the period of October 4, 2018 through December 9, 2018, Guthrie was one of seven people who sold drugs to an informant working with the Wayne County Drug Task Force Detectives. The transactions took place in Texas Township, Berlin Township and Hawley Borough. The bomb threat charge is being handled separately.
