‘Winter Wonderland’

HONESDALE, PA — The Greater Honesdale Partnership will host “Winter Wonderland” on Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30. Vendors will be located inside Honesdale Communi-ty Church and on Main Street from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

The annual Santa Parade will start at 6 p.m. on Friday evening at the Top-Notch parking lot on 4th Street. It travels up Main Street, turns right on 10th Street, and proceeds to Honesdale’s Central Park. There will be a lighting ceremony for the Central Park tree and the Irving Cliff star.

Stourbridge Line rail excursions will be offering Santa Express rides Friday through Sunday and every weekend until Christmas. Visit www.thestourbridgeline.net or call 570/470-2697 for more information. 

Interactive Medicare presentations

PORT JERVIS, NY — The Hub will host Nancy Wolff to hold the final Medicare Monday information session for the year on Monday, December 2 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The previous programs were heavily attended, so register early.  

This will provide an opportunity for those who missed the last few to attend this very informative session prior to the end of the annual enrollment period on December 7.

Hands-on Facebook workshops

HONESDALE, PA — Tim Sohn of Sohn Social Media Solutions will present a new workshop series, “Facebook Masterclass Workshop Series” on Tuesdays, December 3, 10 and 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at VIP Kidz Club, located at 218 Willow Ave. 

These classes are designed for business owners, entrepreneurs and marketers who want to learn how to increase sales faster using Facebook.

‘Winter Spirits’ about town

PORT JERVIS, NY —  This season of “Art About Town,” organized by the River Valley Artists’ Guild (RVAG), will be on view at various exhibit spaces throughout town from Sunday, December 3 to Friday, February 21, 2020.

Gio’s Gelato Café will host winter-themed works by RVAG artists Daniela Coony, Judith Cramer and Joan Kehlenbeck. Hours are Thursday through Tuesday 8:30 to 9 p.m. The Port Jervis Free Library will host Rena Hottinger’s paintings and photographs in the community room. Hours are Monday through Friday, 1 to 5 p.m. Bon Secours will host Susan Miiller’s winter-themed oils on canvas in the first-floor cafeteria. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Deerpark Town Hall will host Joan Kehlenbeck’s winter-themed works. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Catharsis Trio

NARROWSBURG, NY — Tusten Theatre’s “Fall Cultural Series” continues on Saturday, November 30 at 8 p.m. with Catharsis Trio. Led by Ryan Keberle on trombone, keyboards and vocals and featuring Camila Meza on vocals and guitar and Jorge Roeder on bass and vocals, Catharsis Trio brings together elements of chamber music, South American folk, indie rock and jazz to form a unique and intimate sound of “indie jazz.”

Callicoon tree lighting

CALLICOON, NY — On Friday, November 29, the Callicoon Business Association is hosting its fourth annual tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. to put an official start to the holiday season.

This event free and open to the public. There will be bonfires, hot chocolate and s’mores.

Makers’ market

PORT JERVIS, NY — On Saturday, November 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Foundry42 is hosting a makers’ market to feature locally made art, crafts, food, a visit from Santa and more. 

The 2019 makers include CCG Collections, Earth & Twine, This Old Bottle, Mo’s Tonic, Treehouse Crafts, Copper Road, Bubble Babez, Suzy’s Knit Shop, Bonnie Hull Pottery, Goodnight Irene Gifts, Milanville Wood & Co, Brush & Inc., Earth and Still and 4 Sisters Studio.

Bethany ‘Christmas in the Village’

BETHANY, PA — Start off your holiday season on Saturday, December 7 by celebrating at Bethany’s “Christmas in the Village,” where, from 2 to 4 p.m., you will find tours, open houses and holiday experiences at multiple venues town-wide.

As you stroll around town, be sure to enjoy the hospitality of two popular bed and breakfasts: E. Kellogg and James Manning House; sample some holiday treats and, at James Manning House, join in the festivities by singing carols led by Honesdale High School’s Chamber Choir.

Down the road and across the street, Mrs. Claus will visit Bethany Library to help children write their letters to Santa, and Bethany Historical Society will offer tours of the historic borough building.

Next door, Bethany United Methodist Church will be open for tours, and visitors can learn the tradition of the Nativity by creating a family-friendly craft. 

Bethany Village, the senior living facility and personal care home in the borough, hosts a tricky tray and Christmas tree lighting at 3:30 p.m.

Seasonal food and beverages will be available at most locations, as well as many other surprises. Bethany is located three miles north of downtown Honesdale on Route 670. For more information call 570/253-5573 or the library at 570/253-4349.
