MONTICELLO, NY — HRHCare Community Health has announced that Sr. Katherine Seibert, MD, a physician at the HRHCare health centers in Monticello and Goshen, will receive the 2018 Thomas A. Dooley Award from her alma mater, the University of Notre Dame. This award, presented by the Notre Dame Alumni Association, honors individuals who, through their faith-based background, have demonstrated personal courage, compassion, and commitment to advance human and civil rights. Sr. Seibert, a Sister of Charity of New York for nearly 60 years, completed an MS in biology and Ph.D. in microbiology at the University of Notre Dame, and received her MD from the Creighton University School of Medicine in Nebraska. She later completed a fellowship in oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Maryland, and went on to serve as chief of oncology at several New York City hospitals. Sr. Seibert relocated to Sullivan County in the early 1990s, where, as the only oncologist in the county at the time, she developed an oncology program. She joined the HRHCare physician teams in Monticello and Goshen in 2005.
