Spring approaches…

It’s a little chilly out there; the wind does not make it any better. Spring is right around the corner, and I hope we have seen the last of the snow. When I was a kid, I loved the snow: building forts, shoveling for all the neighbors… They would give me hot chocolate and cookies. Now, I love the snow if I am sitting in my chair and looking out the window. I still like to shovel but am very careful walking and driving.  We turn the clocks back Sunday, so the clock in my car will finally be right.

I am very excited to go see Shrek the Musical that is being put on by Sullivan West Musical Production Club. The dates are Friday, March 13 at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 15 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $6 for students and free for seniors. There will be ticket specials on Sunday: family four-pack for $24, family five-pack for $30. Tickets will also be available at the door or by contacting Jenna Sayers at sayerersjen@swcsd.org.

Cochecton Youth Commission is having signups on Tuesday, March 3 from 6:15 to 7 p.m. in the lower level of the Cochecton Town Hall. There are tons of CYC events coming up: Villa Roma Swimming Events on Sunday, March 8 and 15, paint Bessie the Cow on a milk can on Wednesday, March 11, mermaid island painting on Saturday, March 18, Easter candy workshop on Friday, March 20, babysitting course on Saturday, March 21, Laser Tag on Sunday, March 29, Easter Bunny Train Ride on Saturday, April 4, Star Wars character painting on Wednesday, April 15, pierogi making on Friday, May 8 and a VIP Kidz Party on Saturday, May 9. For more details on all these events, see individual Facebook posts.

The membership of the Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps would like to thank everybody who attended training. Two ambulance corps have completed mandatory training to add to its ability to better care for the residents and visitors of the Town of Cochecton and Tusten. Both corps will also be adding this treatment to our many other abilities to serve. The purpose of this training was to learn a treatment for some respiratory or breathing problems that was only available to be done by paramedics in the past. But it has been approved for Basic EMTs to use with additional training plus the ambulance service has to apply for permission for the corps to be able to use it. The training was the final step they had to do. Open training takes place every Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lake Huntington firehouse.

On Saturday, March 14, Lakeview Pizza & Bar is having its famous corn beef and cabbage dinner. Serving starts at 4:30 p.m. For reservations, call 845/932-8131.

On Saturday, March 28, it’s the penny social sponsored by the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Ladies Aid.

Keep smiling and have a great week, you can e-mail me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news. You can always check me out at www.riverreporter.com in community living.
