MONTICELLO, NY — Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteers—trained as tax counselors through the IRS and AARP—will prepare and e-file your federal and state tax returns for free.

One tax preparation center is at Monticello High School, 39 Breakey Ave., in Monticello. Call to make an appointment with a volunteer at 845/794-8840, ext. 10849. Volunteers are available by appointment from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on February 6, 10, 13, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 27; March 2, 5, 9, 11, 14, 16, 19, 23, 26 and 30; and April 2 and 13. Please note that to receive free service at this location, the filer’s household income cannot exceed $56,000 annually.

The other location is Cornell Cooperative Extension, 64 Ferndale-Loomis Rd., Liberty. Call 845/292-6180, ext. 100 to make an appointment with an AARP volunteer, available 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 noon. Mondays and Tuesdays starting February 10 and ending April 7. Please note that this location cannot process complex returns.

Residents must bring a photo ID, social security card, W-2 or 1099 for 2019 income, tax-related documents such as child care or unemployment, bank account number and routing number (if expecting a refund) and previous year’s tax return.
