From egg to larva and nymph to adult
Ill born carriers by this world hated.
A bloodsucker’s life, not one to exult
But one, alas, to which we’ve been fated.
The shark, the snake, even the black widow
Have allies from whom their praises are sung.
No voices come forth to commend us, though.
We parasites live on life’s lowest rung.
And what of vampires, are they no better?
Feted, fabled, considered exotic.
Yet we’re thought as naught but an abettor
Of that which is baleful and brings on sick.
Through this bitter stay, we’ve one truth to face:
Our lot is condemned to distain’s embrace.
