Wizards cast spell on Bulldog Blizzards

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — On Sunday, January 12, the Harlem Wizards returned to the Sullivan West High School gym to take on the Bulldog Blizzards, a team comprised of the school’s faculty, staff and alumni in a repeat of last year’s successful fundraiser for the elementary school Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO).

The Harlem Wizards are a touring professional comedy basketball team that was founded in 1962 by New York sports promoter Howie Davis.

The Blizzards took to the floor, led by superintendent of schools, both player and coach, Steve Walker, appropriately wearing jersey #1 labeled “Big Dog.”

While the outcome of the basketball game wasn’t ever really up in the air, the home team put up a good fight as several hoopsters showed they had played a bit of buckets in the past.

At the final buzzer, the Wizards came out on top, as they defeated the Blizzards 82-66.
