Women tie into fly fishing

Posted

The Pike/Wayne Chapter of Trout Unlimited (PWTU) recently hosted an educational opportunity to introduce women from the Upper Delaware River region to the sport of fly fishing. I had the opportunity to join the group for a three-hour session at the beautiful ponds of Lukan’s Farm and Resort in Hawley, PA, where local fly fishing experts shared their knowledge and skills related to catching fish using flies and lures.

The informative event was organized by PWTU Secretary Paul Ranello and PWTU President Tony Capitano to serve the fastest-growing population of folks interested in fly fishing with an event focused on “learning, fun and meeting like-minded women.” Orvis, a fly-fishing retailer that contributes 5% of its pre-tax profits to nature, provided rods for the attendees to use during the session.

Visit www.pwtu.org for more information about PWTU, whose mission is focused on the conservation and enhancement of Pike and Wayne counties’ cold water streams and fisheries.
