Casey, Braun to hold committee hearing on frauds and scams

ONLINE — On Thursday, September 19, U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging chairman Bob Casey (D-PA) and ranking member Mike Braun (R-IN) will hold a hearing titled, “Fighting Fraud: How Scammers are Stealing from Older Adults.” 

During the hearing, senators will discuss preventing scams, where consumers should report scams, how these scams are investigated and what resources are available to seniors.

Witnesses for the hearing will include:

Kathy Stokes, Director, Fraud Prevention Programs, AARP Fraud Watch Network, Washington, DC

Scott Pirrello, Deputy District Attorney, Head of Elder Abuse Prosecutions, San Diego District Attorney’s Office, San Diego, CA

Susan Whittaker, Administrative Assistant, Lehigh County Aging and Adult Services, Allentown, PA

Nancy Gilmer Moore, Program Director, Indiana Senior Medicare Patrol, Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging, Indianapolis, IN

When: Thursday, September 19, at 10 a.m.
