I walked into the Callicoon ER feeling like I was going to meet my maker: chills, muggy/clammy sweats, raw throat and like I had gone a few rounds with Mike Tyson. I was saying to myself, “I went a year and eight days without being really sick.” As I was lying there waiting for the doctor to come in and talk to me, I heard a voice I recognized. Jerry Yavarkovsky was there for a bloody nose and accompanied by his wife Judy. It was nice to have them as roommates. I was told I have a virus and that I would feel like hell for about a week, six days to be exact. They stuck a plug up Jerry’s nose and sent us both home. I never slept so much in my life. I am down to a stuffy nose and a very annoying cough.
Everyone is asking me when Heinle’s is reopening. I was told in the spring, but with summer finally here, I do not think that is going to happen. On the side of the building there is a banner that says “TURN KEY DELI FOR RENT 516/790-6573.” So, if you are thinking of opening a deli, give Laura and Nick call.

Let’s smile, laugh, cry and celebrate George’s journey loud enough for him to hear.
