Jeff Olsommer to run for PA-139 special election

Posted

Jeff Olsommer was chosen by 139th Legislative District Republican conferees from Pike and Wayne counties to be the Republican nominee for state representative in the April 23 special election. Olsommer was selected to fill the unexpired term of Joe Adams.

Two elections will be held on Tuesday, April 23. The first will be a special election to fill the unexpired term of former Rep. Joe Adams. Voters from every political party can participate.

There will also be a primary election for the 139th district. Only voters from the Republican party can participate in the Republican primary, and only voters from the Democratic party can participate in the Democratic primary. The winner of the Republican primary will take on the winner of the Democratic primary in the 2024 general election, and that winner will serve as the state representative for the 139th Legislative District starting in 2025.

“As a small business owner for over 24 years and elected township supervisor of Sterling Township, Wayne County, for more than 10 years, I understand the need to be able to work with someone that can listen, communicate and problem solve,” said Olsommer.

“It is vital to be able to work with county government and municipal leadership and continue to build on these relationships in Harrisburg for the good of all who live in the 139th District. I know what it’s like to work hard to provide for your loved ones, to stand up for what you believe in, and to fight for the freedoms we are so blessed to enjoy. That is why the voters in the 139th Legislative District can trust me to work to lower taxes for our hardworking families and seniors on fixed incomes. I will also work to enact pro-growth policies to help rural Pennsylvania prosper, ensure our first responders have the resources they need to keep us safe, improve our education system to fully empower tomorrow’s workforce, harness our abundant natural resources to make America and Pennsylvania more energy independent, and protect the sanctity of human life and our second amendment rights.”

Olsommer serves as a board member of the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation, chairman of the Sterling Township Board of Supervisors and is a trustee of the Sterling United Methodist Church. He previously served as a Wayne County Republican State Committee member and as a director of the Western Wayne Education Foundation, Wayne Economic Development Corporation and Southern Wayne Regional Chamber of Commerce.

A lifelong resident of Wayne County, Jeff Olsommer is a graduate of Western Wayne High School and East Stroudsburg University. He lives with his wife Kelli in Sterling.
