RIVER VALLEY — The sun rose over the Upper Delaware River in Narrowsburg at about 7:00:15 a.m. on November 25, and it set at 4:31:36 p.m. for a total of about nine hours, thirty minutes of daylight. The sun will continue to rise later and set (mostly) earlier until Saturday, December 21 at 11:19 p.m. when the winter solstice will officially begin, and people living in the Northern Hemisphere will experience the shortest day and longest night of the year.

On that day the sun will rise at 7:21:59 a.m. and sunset will be at 4:31:18 p.m., for a total of about nine hours and nine minutes of daylight (because of imperfections in the earth’s orbit around the sun, and the way we measure time, the time of sunsets actually starts getting later on December 9, when the sun will rise at 7:14:19 a.m. and set at 4:28:25 p.m.)
