UPPER DELAWARE RIVER — All are invited to join the 36th annual Family Raft Trip, which is sponsored by the Upper Delaware Council (UDC), on Sunday, August 4. Advance reservations with payment are due by Friday, July 26.
The trip is a scenic paddle from the Ten Mile River landing in the Town of Tusten to Lander’s Minisink Base in the Town of Highland.
Check in and park between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at Lander’s Minisink Base, located at 3909 State Rte. 97, Barryville, NY. The last shuttle bus will depart for the Ten Mile River launch site at 10 a.m.
Lander’s River Trips will provide the rafts, paddles, life jackets, safety instructions and transportation.
The 10-mile itinerary takes an average of four hours, depending on the river level, wind and each group’s desired pace. Minimum occupancy per raft is four people. Parties of less than four will be matched at the UDC’s discretion. Children must weigh a minimum of 40 pounds and be able to swim.
For optimum safety, all UDC participants will be required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device when they are on the water for the duration of the trip. Pack a picnic lunch and plenty of drinking water. Dress to get wet; wear sunscreen and foot protection; and avoid bringing valuables. Small coolers and waterproof bags for items such as cameras and keys can be tied into the raft. No glass containers are allowed.
The UDC’s deeply discounted group rate is $30 for ages 13 and up, and $20 for ages five to 12 for online payments, or deduct $1 per ticket to pay by check or cash.
When reserving, provide complete contact information for the rafting party, all guest names and the ages of any minor children under 18.
