DINGMAN’S FERRY, PA — On Saturday, October 5 from 1 to 4 p.m., the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is leading a free bike ride along the McDade Trail. PEEC will provide all equipment and transportation. Bring water and wear sturdy footwear. To register, call 570/828-2319.
Also on Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m., PEEC is hosting an owl prowl. Participation costs $5.
On Sunday, October 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, PEEC will lead a hike to celebrate the signs of fall. Participation costs $5.
Also on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., enjoy the indoor Ecozone Discovery Room. Climb into a bald eagle’s nest, crawl into a bat cave, explore a beaver lodge, and dig in a fossil pit, as you experience hands-on exhibits on natural history, sustainability and the local environment. Admission costs $2 per person and no registration is required.
DEPOSIT AND HANCOCK, NY — On Monday and Tuesday, October 7 and 8, join Friends of the Upper Delaware River (FUDR) in its annual conference, “Water, Water, Everywhere,” to hear about the pressing issues facing the Upper Delaware River.
The conference begins Monday at 1 p.m. at the Village of Deposit Riverside Park, River Street Extension, for Upper Delaware River stream restoration announcements, followed by a tour of the restoration project site from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Attendees are invited to a barbeque with live music at 6 p.m. at the West Branch Angler at 155 Faulkner Rd. in Hancock.

UPPER DELAWARE RIVER REGION, NY AND PA — Join the Delaware Highlands Conservancy and PA-DCNR Bureau of Forestry for a guided fall hike on Stairway Ridge and the adjacent Stairway Wild Area in Westfall Township, Pike County, PA.
