Drug-related accident in Jeffersonville

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — On October 6 at about 2:00 p.m., the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle accident on Route 52 in Jeffersonville. When deputies arrived at the scene they found a Ford F-250 pickup truck that had struck a parked car in front of Michaelangelo’s Restaurant.

The driver was unconscious behind the wheel. Jeffersonville EMS arrived on the scene and administered Narcan to the driver who quickly regained consciousness. Deputies identified the driver as Joseph A. Caywood, 38, of Jeffersonville. He was taken into custody and charged with the felony of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI) with a prior conviction, the misdemeanor of failure to have an alcohol ignition interlock and the violation of failing to maintain a driving lane.

Caywood was released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Callicoon court on October 24, at 7:00 p.m.
